Abstract

The role of local church in fulfilling God’s mission in the world is a great and important task. Mission is a design and masterpiece of God for mankind salvation involving His church. It is a church activity which is indeed not less than Christ’s great attempt Himself performed through the church. The relation between the church and mission is inseparable. The church exists to fulfill God’s mission. God Himself is a missionary God, the God who sends. The Bible clearly indicates that the church is an instrument sent by God to fulfill His mission amid this world (John 20: 21, Matthew 28: 19 – 20). Therefore, missionary tasks are completely church tasks, not pertaining to mission board (even though it must be admitted since the renaissance period, the mission board has been indeed more active and successful in fulfilling mission in the world). Mission board is only a part of church life, not the local church itself, a community of God’s people who gather and have fellowship in Christ. The result of church fulfilling God’s mission is a church who can grow and be fruitful, both in quality and quantity.
